"Multiple Sclerosis from multiple aspects"

Presented by   Susan Cleary & Gai Herne

Sunday 25th May 2008

Gladesville Bowling & Sports Club

9.30am – 3.30pm

Susan Cleary has been an aromatherapist/remedial masseur for 14 years and has had experience with MS clients in various stages of the dis-ease. Susan is passionate about the use of Aromatherapy as one of the many tools to bring our health into balance.

Aromatherapy (use of aromatic plant oils) is beneficial for the relief of the various symptoms of MS:*Muscular pain *Lethargy*Depression*Anxiety *Other physical & emotional symptoms.

Aromatherapy is incorporated into Remedial or (more gentle) Swedish/Aromatherapy style of Massage for many of the physical symptoms or used in a vapouriser of diffuser for the many emotional issues associated with MS. Many sufferers cannot tolerate deep massage techniques; aromatic plant oils can penetrate the skin and work on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems is a valued alternative.

Gai Herne will discuss the many aspects of "Living with MS". This includes the pathology of MS: its different forms, its essential nature & causes, the anatomical & physiological changes as MS develops. There is no mainstream medical treatment for MS, so it offers an opportunity to be creative and thorough in the search for Alternative methods of treatment.

The management and rehabilitation of MS involves Diet, Exercise, Deep Tissue Remedial Massage, Lifestyle &Life-perspective changes. Gai talks about her experiences after 3 years of Treatment for MS, in South Dakota USA, by staying with the North American Indians, sharing and participating in their Sacred Ceremonies, and having treatment with a Lakota Medicine Man.
